Two themed maps have been created: The Elbe and the Vltava and The Sázava and the Berounka. Both combine inspiration for trips on the water with tips for places to visit along the rivers, offering ideas not only for paddlers and boaters, but also for cyclists, hikers and day-trippers.
The maps include an overview of public ports and boat rental points, swimming spots, cycle routes, towns, heritage sites and other attractions located close to the rivers. Each map presents the river routes and selected destinations in a clear, accessible format, accompanied by practical information, short descriptions of individual locations and recommendations on where to eat. The new river maps therefore serve as a comprehensive guide for anyone wishing to discover Central Bohemia from more than just the deck of a boat.
“Central Bohemia offers excellent conditions for water tourism, and our rivers have long ranked among the most popular in the Czech Republic. The local boating tradition, naturally connected with tramping and time spent outdoors, remains very much alive and continues to appeal to new generations of visitors. The region also offers a wide network of campsites, boat rental services and quality facilities for those travelling along the rivers,” says Jakub Kulhánek, Director of the Central Bohemia Tourist Board.
The development of river tourism in the region is also supported by the opening of new public ports, making travel along the rivers more comfortable and accessible. The positive impact can also be seen in the surrounding areas, where heritage sites, excursion destinations and local services benefit from growing visitor interest. Increasingly, travellers combine time on the water with walking trips or cycling routes, making Central Bohemia an ideal destination for an active holiday.
“We want to encourage visitors to discover Central Bohemia from a different perspective — from the river, from the riverbank and through the places that make these landscapes so special,” adds Jakub Kulhánek.
The river maps are available in four language versions: Czech, English, German and Polish. Printed copies can be obtained at the Tourist Information Centre of the Central Bohemia Tourist Board in Husova Street in Prague.
