Accommodation at the GASK Gallery
From summer onwards, a guesthouse with five self-contained accommodation units will open within the premises of the Gallery of the Central Bohemian Region (GASK). The new facilities are intended primarily for artists, professional guests and partner institutions, but will also be open to the general public. Staying here offers a unique opportunity to quite literally live surrounded by art and historic architecture.
Major Anniversaries in Kutná Hora
Kutná Hora is set to enjoy a truly special year. Important anniversaries of two famous native sons – Mikuláš Dačický of Heslov and Josef Kajetán Tyl – will be marked by a series of cultural events throughout the year. By summer at the latest, Tyl House will open its doors: a renovated space dedicated to the life and legacy of one of the most important Czech writers and playwrights. Visitors will see period photographs, costume sketches for the play Fidlovačka (from which the Czech national anthem originates), musical instruments, and a reconstruction of Tyl’s study. A notable historical feature is the cellar dating back to approximately the 15th century, preserved in remarkably original condition, part of which will now be newly accessible to the public.
Revived Steam Engine in Lobeč
Technical enthusiasts will be drawn to the Lobeč steam-powered brewery, where restoration work is underway on a listed steam engine by Bolzano Tedesco & Comp., Slaný, dating from 1895. The historic engine has been brought back into motion with the help of a historic Škoda Plzeň electric motor from 1913. The newly opened engine room will present an exhibition of steam-engine technology within this unique industrial heritage site.
Josef Lada Memorial Reopens
In July, the Josef Lada Memorial and the Memorial of his daughter Alena in Hrusice will reopen after reconstruction. The exhibition will also include a section dedicated to Jaroslav Hašek and his most famous novel, The Good Soldier Švejk, which is hard to imagine without Lada’s illustrations. On display will be Lada’s illustrations for fairy-tale books by other authors, complemented by his paintings of water sprites and mythical creatures. Visitors will also learn about the independent artistic work and illustrations of his daughter, Alena Lada.
New Pavilion at Ratměřice Château
In January, a new Hotel Pavillon will open within the grounds of Ratměřice Château, increasing accommodation capacity by 23 double rooms. The building will also house a new Asian-style restaurant and a modern wellness centre.
Huť František – A Venue for Events
From March, Huť František will present itself in a new concept. While retaining the atmosphere of the original glassworks, its use will expand – alongside glass art and a gallery, it will now also offer facilities for social, event and conference functions. The official opening of the older part of the complex (reception and hall) is scheduled for 21 March and will be marked by the premiere of a new performance by actor Jaroslav Dušek.
New Depository at the Škoda Museum
A new depository opened in Mladá Boleslav last December. The exhibition presents 23 unique automobiles displayed in an attractive “garage-style” concept. The vehicles were acquired exactly as they were found after decades in forgotten garages and barns. Cars in original or partially restored condition are on display in the premises of an original factory hall built in 1906. Thirty-minute guided tours are available and must be booked in advance.
Načeradec Château
Near Mount Blaník, the restored Načeradec Château is now open, offering cosy accommodation in a minimalist design. It is surrounded by an English-style park with a 200-year-old protected lime tree. The relaxation area features a hot tub and a Finnish sauna. There is also a château bistro serving homemade cakes, quality local beer and freshly baked bread. The château hosts exhibitions and cultural events that enliven both the interiors and the park grounds.
Neustupov Château
In the Land of the Knights of Blaník, visitors can explore another newly opened monument – Neustupov Château. Guests can tour the first and second floors of the eastern wing, where they will learn about the château’s history and its notable owners. The château is still undergoing renovation and currently offers accommodation in one apartment. Plans include the construction of wedding suites, a wellness area and a café. A particular highlight is the oldest lime tree in the Central Bohemian Region, located at the château entrance. Known as the Kaplíř Lime Tree, it is over 600 years old.
